Calculation of Radiation Dose

Question:
Table 1 in the Radiation in the Pregnancy article does not state if the values for fetal exposure are for the radiographic SERIES eg. ankle series (3 views) or I ankle shot. Secondly it does not state if these values take into account lead apron/shielding. Are they unshielded doses? Thanks
Answer:
The values in the table http://www.motherisk.org/women/commonDetail.jsp?content_id=208 are average values and represent the entire procedure (the way the physician ordered it) without lead apron shielding. In order to get an accurate idea of the fetal radiation dose, the woman/physician should contact the instititution where the procedure was performed and ask the technician to calculate the estimated fetal dose of radiation.
