Question:
I am a pharmacy technician and have just been informed that there has been a broken vial of a chemotherapy drug sitting in our sterile room. We do not know how long it has been there. I have been in that room at least twice for about 2 hours at a time and I am extremely worried about the consequences this may have on my unborn baby. I am 35 weeks pregnant. Should I be concerned??

Answer:
This type of exposure is not going to adversely affect your child. It is an issue only in the first trimester, for nurses or staff who regularly dispense chemotherapeutic agents.
