Current Studies at Motherisk: Study seeks women between 4 and 12 weeks in their pregnancy with morning sickness (NVP)

The Motherisk Program at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto is conducting a study involving women between 4 and 12 weeks in their pregnancy with any degree of morning sickness, also known as Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy (NVP). The aim of the study is to determine if eating a natural freezie that comes in different flavours improves symptoms of NVP.

Participation will include:

  1. An initial in-person interview (20 minutes) at the Motherisk Program or at an agreed location, which includes counselling and advice on the best way to deal with symptoms, including dietary advice and non-medical and medical treatments as per Motherisk NVP protocol.
  2. Three telephone follow-up interviews (5 to 10 minutes each).

Participation (initial and follow-up interviews) will occur over the course of 7 days.

The study is supervised by Dr. Gideon Koren. If you are interested in participating in the study or would like more information, please contact Caroline Maltepe or Kamelia Mirdamadi at the Motherisk NVP Helpline at 1-800-436-8477 or by e-mail at caroline.maltepe@sickkids.ca or kamelia.mirdamadi@sickkids.ca

We thank you greatly for your time and hope you can support our study.
